Blue Elephant Theatre Announcement

We sadly share the news that we will be surrendering our building back to Southwark Council just before Christmas. In the current climate and following funding cuts, this has become the only way to stabilise the organisation and continue some of our work. We are grateful for all the love and support we have received as a community and fringe venue, and for all the artists, audiences, participants, staff and freelancers who have joined us in this special building at 59a Bethwin Road.

Please help us continue our work like Young People's Theatre, early years projects and original family theatre shows, by supporting our Big Give Campaign which runs until December 9th. Donations will be doubled and so will have a larger impact! Donations can be made here.

We also do still have limited rehearsal space available to hire over the next month, which can be booked below or by emailing hires@blueelephanttheatre.co.uk.

Our Patrons

Our Patrons are Joanna Lumley, Radzi Chinyanganya and Maggie Alphonsi.

Joanna Lumley became our first patron in 2009. A familiar figure on stage and screen, who is also known for her advocacy and activist work, her career has spanned six decades to date.

Radzi and Maggie both took part in Gareth Malone's All-Star Choir in 2014 which also included some young participants from Blue Elephant. They became patrons after getting to know Blue Elephant's work. Maggie had just led the English Women's Rugby Team to World Cup Victory at the time, establishing herself as a household name and role model to many.

Radzi is a television presenter. Like Maggie, he is passionate about sport and covers many sporting events but he is best known to our young people as a presenter on Blue Peter from 2013 - 19.

Radzi took part in Celebrity Mastermind in early March 2020 and chose Blue Elephant as his charity, raising vital funds for us at what proved to be a very vulnerable time.
